Can you get a free boiler if you claim PIP?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a government grant that facilitates homeowners switching to renewable heating systems like heat pumps and biomass boilers. The grant is for properties located in England and Wales only. For the year 2025/2026, the government has allocated £295 Million for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

The grants are offered at a flat rate, which does not vary by the installation capacity that is up to 45 kWth (kilowatt thermal) for single property, and up to 300kWth for shared ground loop (SGL). So far, it has supported over 100,000 property-owners through subsidized heating system installations since May 2022.
